Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a fantasy novel written by British author J. K. Rowling and the second novel in the Harry Potter series. The book was published in the United Kingdom on 2 July 1998 by Bloomsbury and later in the United States on 2 June 1999 by Scholastic Inc.
Although Rowling says she found it difficult to finish the book, it won high praise and awards from critics, young readers, and the book industry, although some critics thought the story was perhaps too frightening for younger children.
The plot follows Harry’s second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, during which a series of messages on the walls of the school’s corridors warn that the “Chamber of Secrets” has been opened and that the “heir of Slytherin” would kill all pupils who do not come from all-magical families. These threats are found after attacks that leave residents of the school petrified. Throughout the year, Harry and his friends Ron and Hermione investigate the attacks.
The first real defeat of Voldemort
Although the first defeat of Voldemort can be found in the first book of the saga: “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” in the second book of the saga Voldemort in the official capacity of himself before his mutation, namely: “Tom Riddle” faces Harry together to the Basilisk.
This action represents perhaps the beginning of the end of him, as through the fang of the Basilisk hits the diary of Tom Riddle effectively destroying the first Horcrux. Obviously this term in the second book is unknown, to which it will be explained by the author later in the rest of the books, but the fact remains that it was for Lord Voldemort his first and triumphal defeat that changed the course of events.
The fang will later be used to destroy part of the other Horcrux, thus declaring the defeat of Voldemort. I have always asked myself: “what would have happened if the diary had remained with the Basilisk, after Harry’s escape? Would the protagonist have returned to the chamber of secrets to look for the diary again and thus risk his life?”.
They might not even have figured out how to destroy the rest of the Horcruxes if he hadn’t tried to defeat the Basilisk instead of fleeing.

Reading this illustrated version together with the plot is always an exciting experience, especially when it comes to Harry Potter, one of the greatest famous books of fantasy. Definitely a unique edition of its kind that manages to entertain the public glued to the book. The plot and its wonderful characters always manage to excite, as well as the magic that circulates on every page of the book. Reliving the adventures of Harry is always fantastic, especially if we read the story in certain historical moments of life, we always catapulted into our youth and we feel that memory relive in your heart. A spectacular and wonderful edition like the plot that has dragged entire generations of Muggles towards the concept of pure magic.
